Compact, High Resolution Screen

The S2243W features a 16:10 aspect ratio with a 1920 × 1200 native resolution. Thanks to its 0.247 mm pixel pitch and display of 103 pixels per inch, it shows 30% more information than a typical 22" monitor with a 1680 × 1050 resolution. It displays the same amount of information as a typical 24.1" monitor, but occupies 10% less desk space. This is ideal for offices where a 24.1" monitor is desired, but cannot be installed due to space constraints.

Optimized Brightness with Auto EcoView

An Auto EcoView sensor on the front of the monitor (this is the improved and earlier called BrightRegulator) measures ambient light and optimizes the screen’s brightness to levels akin to viewing a sheet of paper under typical office lighting conditions. Since the screen is never too bright, eye strain is reduced while power consumption is cut by up to 43% compared to operating the monitor with Auto EcoView turned off and set to the default factory brightness of 100%.

Direct Energy Savings

When the monitor’s power save mode and off timer function are set, it consumes less than 1.5 watts of power, and when turned off via the main power switch, it consumes no electricity at all. With today’s increasing office energy expenses, zero-watt power consumption saves electricity and lower costs over the long run.

Power Savings with EcoView Index

A user activated on-screen index shows the level of power savings in correlation with the monitor’s brightness to encourage environmental consciousness while working. When EcoView Index is fully illuminated, the monitor is operating at optimum energy efficiency.

DVI Input Level Adjustment

This feature compensates for image quality degradation that may occur when connecting a monitor with a signal switch box or via a long cable.

Individual Adjustment of Gamma

To provide better image consistency in multi-monitor environments, EIZO performs advanced gamma adjustment at the factory, which minimizes discrepancies among monitor gamma characteristics.

Fine Contrast Mode Selection

For optimum viewing of different kinds of content, EIZO’s Fine Contrast function includes modes for office applications (Text mode), video (Movie mode), graphics (Picture mode), web browsing (sRGB mode), user-defined settings (Custom mode) and and "EyeCare" mode lowers brightness to a mere 3 cd/m2. Modes switch automatically with the bundled ScreenManager Pro for LCD software, or manually with the press of a button.

Unobtrusive Speakers

0.5 watt speakers are hidden within the monitor cabinet, so you can enjoy sound while bezel size is kept to a minimum. If you require greater volume, the separate i-Sound L3 sound unit with dual 0.9 watt speakers can be attached to the bottom of the monitor.

Improved Work Efficiency, Reduced Visual Fatigue

EIZO conducted a survey in 2008 to establish the relationship between eye fatigue and monitor use. The results showed that features like Auto EcoView, ergonomic stands, and the EyeCare utility helped reduce eye fatigue and improved work efficiency by 12.5%.

EIZO’s new EyeCare utility prompts workers to take scheduled breaks, thereby promoting healthier work habits and preventing eye fatigue caused by prolonged monitor use.

Placement Flexibility

The ergonomic and highly-versatile FlexStand offer tilt, swivel and height adjustment. The FlexStand also offers portrait rotation, laptop-like screen placement, and at 225 mm, the industry's greatest range of height adjustment. The FlexStand features an innovative, bearing-less design that reduces mechanical wear and the amount of torque required to adjust height. A quick release feature on the FlexStand allows for easy monitor reconfiguration.
